Comment on Grieving the loss of a guinea pig by Edwin Fajardo.

I feel your loss deeply as well. I too, am 42 and have had a few guinea pigs before, but none were the spirited feisty Woewoe who has been with my family for 3 1/2 years. Lymphoma and leukemia. We noticed bumps underneath her dewlap and brought her in to the vet, only to find out it was too advanced. these last two weeks we spoiled her more rotten than ever before! Extra romaine lettuce and celery (her favorites), critical care mixed with water along with the recommended meds to ease her pain. she came into our bedroom one last time, crossing the hallway known as no man’s land to spend her final hour with her herd. Us. I have two sons, but she was my daughter, as close as ill ever have. Still crying, and listening to Kansas Dust in the Wind as I revisit the many wonderful memories of Woewoe and her daddy. She gave kisses and stares, and snapped when she didn’t like something and never stopped her courageous, brave, and vivacious spirit to the very end!
