Comment on Life after euthanasia for bereaved pet carers by Deborah Jendrasik.

I needed a read this today. Also the comments and the sympathy that is expressed is wonderful. In 2020 our 16 year old cat threw a clot. She had an enlarged heart. Our vet gave her a matter to months to live but she had those 9 lives and stayed with us for 2 years longer than expected. We called a mobile vet and in the peace and comfort of our home she was put to sleep and her ashes returned to us. On October 16th of this year our 20 year old cat Sasha was put to sleep at the vet. They showed compassion and understanding as it was even more difficult this time. Sasha as with Emmy lived 2.5 years longer than expected with end stage kidney disease. She was given an iv of fluids every other day . She never winced and usually fell asleep during the treatment. Needless to say our hearts are broken. I long to hold her once more in my arms. I have no regrets just emptiness for both of them. They were rescue kitties and were brought up together so they are reunited once again.
